Community resilience is defined by the Scottish Government as:

“Communities and individuals harnessing resources and expertise to help themselves prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, in a way that complements the work of the emergency responders.

About Rebooting Resilience and this resource

Rebooting Resilience was funded by the Scottish Government Resilient Communities, Civil Contingencies Division. There were two local development sites in Moffat, in Dumfries and Galloway, and Falkirk. The following resource draws on the experiences of these two communities - one of which was focused on the community perspective, and the other had the local authority as lead organisation. We also undertook some national research, participated in national conferences and discussions, and hosted online sessions for wider involvement.

The case studies included are from across Scotland, and we thank those organisations for their input, helping us shape the resource into something that can be used in whichever part of Scotland you are working in.
